It's all about the girls again this week!!

Hello friends.  This week the DT is sharing projects designed using "Assorted Purse Box Template Cutting File" and  "Purse Shaped Card and Treat Box Set Template / Cutting File".  I decided to create a gift bag using the Assorted Purse Box file.  There are multiple options and the gift box size is approximately 4" tall (not including the height of the handle) x 5 1/2".  Great size for a small gift!!  It also comes with lots of little accessories like the little flower I added.  These files come with lots of cute phrases and sentiments perfect of purse shaped projects.

Check out The Cutting Cafe blog on Wednesday night to see more inspiration using these fabulous files.  Regina will be giving away a free set to one lucky gal who leaves a comment.

One last thing ... next week is the end of the current DT term.  This means that there will be a DT blog hop and each designer will be GIVING AWAY A FREE CUTTING FILE !!!

Hope you are all having a fabulous week!!
hugs,  Melisa

TCC Nail Polish Gift Box

Hello friends.  We are on the road back to Houston today.  Colorado was beautiful ... but I can't wait to get home.  The mountains there are so beautiful.   We have a wonderful memory of Mt. Evans.  The highway leading to the summit is the highest highway in the North East.  We did not know what we were getting ourselves into.  I laughed soooo hard.  The highway is narrow and you have approx. 6" on the side and then it just drops off.  There was an occasional pull off and we pulled over every time we got the chance to take a break or to let other cars pass.  We were only going about 20 miles hours.  It was crazy how fast other cars were driving.  The funny part was my husband "freaking out".  We laughed so hard.  We kept telling him to focus on the center line and don't look over at the drop.  My daughter and I realized we were leaning toward the center of the car .... like that would keep us from going off the side, teehee!  We only made it half way.  Next time we will make it to the summit.  I will share photo's after I get home and get them edited.

Today I'm sharing this cute little nail polish gift box!!  I LOVE this one.  As always you can either cut them with your electronic cutter or by hand.  Sorry about the photo's.  I edited them before we left for vacation ... but didn't save them to my laptop.  I don't have a photo editing program on my lap top, so I had to use them directly from my photo card.

You can find the file for this project HERE.  There will be more inspiration over on The Cutting Cafe inspiration blog later today HERE.

Hope you are having a great week!!
hugs, Melisa

Altered Metal Tin Tutorial

Today I want to share with you a tutorial on how I altered this little Valentine gift tin.
I purchased this $1 gift card tin from Michaels.  They come in a large variety of colors / patterns on the lids.

Did you know you can stamp and emboss on tissue paper?  Thought I'd give it a try, and it worked!!!
I started by stamping the word "love" and embossing it, then mask it off.  Next I stamped the heart and embossed.  The butterfly and birds were stamped and embossed on tissue paper as well.  Begin by trimming around the images with scissors but not too close because you want a more distressed look so we will be tearing it as well.  Then use water on a paint brush and apply the water around the edge of the image.  This will allow the tissue paper to tear easily.  DON'T get it too close to your image or it will tear as well.  If you do apply the water to close to the image, let it dry and try again.

I used the gesso to adhere the tissue images to the top of the tin.

Then applied more gesso around the images and over the rest of the tin.  It toned down the pattern on the lid.
I stamped around the edges with a swirl using red pigment ink. The other qoutes and cupid are rub-ons and the glittery heart is a brad I cut the prongs off of.

Christmas Gift Bag / Box with a Reindeer Image

****  OOPS!  so sorry.  I just realized what the title said when this one went out to everyone.  I just changed it.  Originally this post was set up for a LOC blog hop, but it was cancelled.  Sorry if it was misleading ***

Good Morning!  Today I am sharing a gift set designed for Stamper's Sampler Magazine and I'm proud to say, it made the cut!!  In fact I have several projects in the Oct / Nov issue.  I used Creative Cuts and More pre-scored / pre-cut die cuts and Layers of Color Reindeer Waltz.

Gotta vent for just a minute ....  I have to go to my husband's Work Christmas Dinner.  Notice I said "have", teehee.  This is going to be torture for me, seriously.  I don't know anyone, and I'm not exactly a social butterfly.  I'm happy in my studio creating and could go DAYS, without ever leaving the house.  My favorite get togethers are when someone comes over to craft with me ...  and I don't have to leave the house.  Say a prayer for me, I know I'm a grown women, but I have a little social anxiety.
How is the Christmas shopping and putting up the decorations going??  We started putting up the decorations the day after Thanksgiving.  I have 1 tree done.  I have a second tree in the diningroom I have to put up.  I found the CUTEST christmas salad plates really cheap at Walmart.  They have little holly branches and birds on them!  I will try to take photo's soon and share.
Have a great day!
hugs, Melisa

Birthday Party Ensemble Tutorial

Hello Paper Crafters.  Today I'm sharing a birthday party ensemble that is deliciously sweet!  Designed using various Pink Persimmon stamp sets.  But the primary set is Vintage Cupcake.  This set comes with a yummy cupcake and lots of adorable cupcake toppers to choose from.  It also has a wonderful scalloped border.  You can stamp it as an outline and then color the scallops or stamp the inside with colored ink using the solid image.  And of course stamping it on patterned paper would be just as cute!
This ensemble includes a table top center piece, gift bag with tag, card, gift card holder, and a gift bags for the guest.  The table center piece is designed using paper mache boxes and an inexpensive paper party hat.  I am including a tutorial for this project and for a gift card holder.  Hope you enjoy it!

Begin by painting paper mache boxes with vintage white paint.  Trim patterned paper and adhere around top box with Mod Podge.  You have to work fast with this because it dry's fast.  Use as little as possible, because it can warp the paper.  With a foam brush, apply to back of paper and secure to box.

Adhere paper ribbon around edge of small box lid and striped ribbon around edge of larger box lid.  I used my Aleene's tacky glue for this.

Remove larger box lid.  Stamp cupcake in black ink around box.  Because the box is round, you have to roll the stamp from one side to the other.  Stamp the cupcake image on various coordinating pattern papers.  Cut the cupcake liners and cupcake icing's out separately.  And then adhere them over the cupcake images on the box.

At this point I figured out that I didn't leave enough space to add the toppers : ( .  So I had to substitute buttons.  So make sure when you create yours that you stamp those cupcakes closer to the bottom edge!  Create a bow with the striped ribbon and adhere to the front of smaller box.

I created a decorative party hat to top off my paper mache birthday cake.  I purchased a set of paper hats that were on sale for $1 and embellished one.  Open up the hat from the back and lay it out flat.  Apply Mod Podge and adhere it to the backside of some patterned paper.  Once dry, trim off excess paper around the edges.  Bring the 2 edges together at the back of the hat and adhere together with Aleene's Tachy Glue.  Adhere an extra large chenille stem around the bottom of the hat.  Adhere a large pom pom at the top of the hat.

Create a coordinating birthday card, gift tag for the gift bag, and gift card holder for the guest of honor.  And gift bags for your guest.

I added one of the cute toppers and the scalloped border from the "Vintage Cupcake" set to the card.  I stamp the "Dutch Journal Circle" on cream cardstock and green patterned paper for the background.  Trim the inside circle from the cream image and adhere it over the green one.  I created the  pink scalloped circle using my  Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Circles and the Grand Calibur.

These little gift bags are so easy to assemble and come in a variety of colors from Creative Cuts and More (Square Bag #01)  They are pre-cut and pre-scored.  Just fold and adhere!  The sentiment on this one is from the "Vintage Greetings" set.  I used my Spellbinders Standard Circles and Scalloped Circles with the Grand Calibur to create the background on the front of the bag.

I used the "Vintage Greetings" and "Ric Rac Circles" for the sentiments on the tag.

This little gift card holder is also easy to create using a Scor-Pal.  The sentiment is from the "Hello Vintage Girl" set.

Trim cardstock 4.5" x 7".  Score, from the left side, at 2 3/4", 3 1/2", and 4 1/4".  Fold at score lines.

Use your gift card to draw penciled guidelines and cut.

(this is not the actual card, but a prop to show you where to glue)

Flip it over and adhere along the edge as shown.  Do not apply too much glue or you want be able to slide your gift card in the slot you have created.

Stamp and embellish outside of gift card holder and secure with ribbon.

CardMaker Mag Publication Teacher Gift Set

Good Morning!  Today I am sharing a Teacher Gift set.  You can find a slightly altered version in the May issue of CardMaker Magazine and as one of the featured projects on the CardMaker Magazine site HERE.  The chipboard on this set was discontinued, so I had to make a few changes.  The "A+ Teacher" and "for my teacher" sentiments are FREE downloads you can get at the bottom of my sidebar.  The gift boxes are from Creative Cuts and More.

And here is a photo of the changes I made:

I substituted some digital images.  I used "Apple for Teacher" digi set by Fred She Said and "Back to School Desk" by The Stamping Boutique.

Wedding Favors

Aren't these the cutest little wedding favors!  They are by Creative Cuts and More.  They come pre-cut and pre-scored and ready for you to put together and embellish.

I found this really pretty patterned paper and added it to the bottom of the dress.  Then embellished with pearls for a necklace.  The belt - pearl flowers and rose, are Making Memories.
I designed my own collar for the tux and covered the shirt portion with some shiney stiped patterned paper.  You can't really see it in the photo.  Then I added the black pearls and metal rose (Making Memories).

Thanks for stopping by!

Melisa

Cute as a Button Ensemble : Boy!

I have created several ensembles using Creative Cuts and More products.  I just LOVE those shoes!

A7 Scalloped Card Creative Cuts and More
Stamps : "Little One" by Clear and Simple
Ink : Brilliance Pearlescent Chocolate Tsukineko
Patterned Paper : Reminisce
Spellbinders Circle and Scalloped Circles Nestibilities
Deckled Scissors : Fiskars
Border Punch : Fiskars

Shoes : Creative Cuts and More, come pre-cut and pre-scored.
You fold and adhere.  These shoes are a little tricky and hard to line up perfectly around the bottom.  So be prepared to add the bead fiber like I did or even a scalloped border (border punch).  I also had to trim the insole a little to make it fit.  I have a tutorial on how I created mine using the Swiss Dots embossing folder.

Diaper Invitation : Creative Cuts and More
Patterned Paper : Reminisce
Border Punch : Fiskars

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope your weekend is blessed!
hugs,
Melisa

Baby Ensemble

Good Morning Papercrafters.  It's going to be an exciting day today.  We do the walk through for the house and then close next friday!  And then life will REALLY get busy, getting ready to move.  But it will be a fun busy.  I hope you are all staying warm.  It's been cold here, but the good news is, we will be back up into 70's next week.  Hey ... don't be a hater!  teehee.

This is a set that I have submitted FOUR times.  I give up, teehee.  And now I can share it on my blog.
The Popcorn box, Scalloped card and baby shoes are all Creative Cuts and More, pre-cut, pre-scored dies.  You fold and adhere.  I have posted a tutorial in the past on how I make the shoes, and you can check it out HERE.  The shoes are a little challenging the first time since I am a perfectionist.  But I got better at it, the more I made.  Be prepared to use some trim along the bottom to cover up any area's that don't go together perfectly.  But they are worth figuring out, because they are so stinkin' cute!!  And what a hit they would be at a baby shower.

Thanks for stopping by!
Melisa
