Artist Trading Card / Faith Art

Artist Trading Card 2.5" x 3.5"

Good morning Paper Crafters!  Today I am sharing an Artist Trading Card (2.5" x 3.5") designed for the "Word Art Wednesday" challenge HERE.  Word Art Wednesday is a weekly challenge where Cass provides a free "word / phrase" art for your use in a project.   I used Impression Obsession clear stamp set "Home Sweet Nest".  Have you seen Impressions Obsession's new online store??  so much better than their old one!

I created the background a while back ( I have a pile of them ready to go for ATC's).  But I think I used a spray ink and then lightly pounced on brown ink using a stencil brush.  Then distressed the edges with brown ink as well.  I stamped the nest directly on the background and then layered Copic colors (E23, E25, E59, and then E49).  I colored the eggs with watered down blue acrylic paint.  I stamped the bird on watercolor paper and colored with NeoColor Watercolor Crayons (brown #59 and blue #180).  I printed the word art and used chalk around the words, then inked the edges with brown ink.  I adhered both the word art and ATC to blue cardstock and trimed around the edges with deckled scissors.

Have a great day!
Melisa

Impression Obsession Egg Shaped Card

Today I have an EGG-stra special card to share with you, teehee.  I thought it would be fun to create an egg shaped card for Easter.  I used a foam egg shaped I purchased at Hobby Lobby as a template ...  but I'm sure you could google "egg shape coloring page" and you would get lots of options for creating your own egg shaped card.  You can see the fold on the left side.  I used this fun image by Impression Obssession on this one.  Impression Obsession is another one of my favorites.  Especially image by Alesa Baker.  Check them out HERE.  I got some new ones a few months ago that I still haven't found time to use.  But hopefully soon.  Another thing I like about Impression Obsession is that you have a choice between wood mounted or saving 30% off for cling mount.  And since I end up removing all my stamps from the blocks and converting them, this is definitely a deal for me.  You can get some of the image in clear sets as well if that's what you prefer.

Today's project features "Large Bunny in Watering Can".  I used a border puch and some ribbon to try and make it look like an easter egg.  The border punch is one of those large ones, I think by Martha Stewart.  And you can't really tell, but I used white fun flock on the bunny.  That alone is a reason to by a bunny stamp of some kind in my opinion, teehee.
Have an egg-stra special day!
Melisa

Easter Greetings

Hello Papercrafters.  I have the pleasure of playing along with the Christian Papercraft Magazine Design Team this month.  Each month on the 15th a new Design Team gallery opens with lots of inspiration for the theme they have chosen.  You can learn more about Christian Papercraft Magazine HERE.  Wonderfully sweet ladies over there, with bible studies, and challenges.  If you are looking for a place to hang out and spend some time with other Christian ladies who love papercrafting, then this just may be the forum for you!

I can not share the projects I designed for the DT gallery on my blog.  They are exclusive to CPCM.
But I will be posting some other Easter projects soon.  This one is an older one, but the stamp is still available by Impression Obsession.  Isn't that bunny so cute!  I used white fun flock to make him furry.

I hope you have a wonderful week!
hugs,
Melisa

Impression Obsession Challenge Time - Stamp a Background

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of your wonderful comments this week!
Today I'm posting a card for this weeks Impression Obsession Challenge - STamp a BAckground.  But first I have to warn you - DON"T enlarge the photo of this card - it's really bad, teehee.  I had a copic emergency this morning, my very first.  I ran out of BV00 while I was trying to finish up this card and the blending is not quite what it should be.  You should have heard me talking to it, "come on baby, just a little bit more".  Time to order some of the refills.  Or DH may think I need to be committed!

So for this card I created my background by stamping the same image repeatedly.  You can check out the Impression Obsession Challenge blog to read about upcoming challenges and an opportunity to win $25 gift certificate to their online store.

This set was designed by Sarah Phelps and it is one of Impression Obsessions clear sets.  You can check out more of their Clear Stamp Sets HERE.  Impression Obsession has a great online store where you can choose between Clear Sets, rubber unmounted or mounted, and cling mount.

So I created a second card one using this set, minus BV00.  I just love these florals.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Impression Obsession Color Challenge : Green

This challenge gave me an opportunity to use "Damask Clover" and "All Year Long".  One of my TAC friends had created a green/black card last year and I loved it!  I never forgot the how wonderful they looked together so when I seen this DP I grabbed it.  I trimmed it down to 4 x 5.5" and set it aside.  So when I seen this challenge I knew immediately what I was going to use!  I LOVE Impression Obsession.
My favorite artist over there are Alesa Baker and Montagerie.  And then there is a fabulously unique Leigh Hannon.  I can walk into a stamp store and without even checking the label, many times identify her stamps!  Who else would combine a garden in a cake, seashells in a christmas tree, or florals in a rooster!  Her images are fun and whimsical.  The Damask Clover is by Leigh as well.

If you have Impression Obsession Stamps then hop on over to the IO Blog and check out todays DT Blog Hop and all the details for the challenge.  Mitra, the owner, generously offers up a $25 gift certificate to their online store twice monthly!  I don't know about you, but I LIKE winnig free stuff.  I won once in 2009, and I'm hoping to get lucky again in 2010!  Shirley, our blog hostess, list the challenges WAY in advance for us so you can plan to play along.

I'm off to work on tomorrow's blog post.  Will I ever get ahead??  Probably not, teehee.

If you love Impression Obsession and would like a chance at winning a $25 Gift Certificate, then you will definitely want to play along with their challenges !!

I won $25 free Impression Obsession!

TEEHHEEEEEE (giggling).  Who doesn't love winning free stuff!  Every 2 weeks or so, Shirley Ross and the IO DT share inspiration and a customer challenge via a Blog Hop.  And Mitra, IO owner, offers up a $25 gift certificate to their online store!!  I love Impression Obsession images and started playing along.  Shirley has been posting the challenges for customers in advance, so you have time to do some shopping for the perfect IO image to use for the challenge.  Last week my name was drawn and I just finished doing a little shopping!  I can't wait to get my new images in the mail.  We would love to have you join us!  I have already created my card for this weeks challenge.  You can see the challenge and blog hop on Thursday HERE.

Here is my entry for the upcoming challenge.

I used Winter Wonderland F2268
I stamped my tree with VersaMagic and embossed with White Embossing Powder.  I realized that you were not going to be able to see the details if the entire card was white, including the stamped image, so I brushed over the embossed image with some green ink.  I used my Cuttlebug and embossing templates to create my textured background.  I used my Martha Stewart border punch to create even more white texture.  I added white Pearl Glitter and pearls to the tree.

And here are the details for upcoming challenges that Shirley shared recently:

Dec. 3 -- WHITE (Mainly White) challenge
Dec. 17 -- VALENTINES/LOVE
Jan. 7 -- SPRING
Jan. 21 -- SHAPED card (anything but rectangle)

I hope you will join us in the next challenge. If you would like to prepare early here are the guidelines:
Impression-Obsession stamps only please.
Entries will be accepted until the following Saturday at midnight.
You email your entry to me using the Email Shirley link provided near the top of the second sidebar to the right.
All participants' cards will be posted here and also permanently in our IO Customer Album in the very next sidebar over.

If you live in Jacksonville, know that I have purchased Impression Obsession stamps locally at Pictures In Time, Scrap and Stamp, and A Small Cleverness.

Or shop online at Impression Obsession Online Store.

Impression Obsession - Fall Challenge

I can't wait til "Fall is in the air". It's soooo hot here is Jacksonville.
I love fall. And I love decorating the house for fall. So when Impression Obsession posted a "Fall Challenge" I decided I would create another Fall Home Decor project I could set out when that time of year does arrive.

The Impression Obsession Design Team had a Fall Blog Hop you might want to check out HERE.

For my project I grabbed an old stamp block (I have a pile of them since I converted my rubber stamps to EZ Mount), painted it, coated it with shimmerz, and started altering.
Stamps : 3 Pumpkins and Autumn is ... by Impression Obsession.
Leaves are Technique Tuesday.
Patterened Paper : DCWV
Label Die : Spellbinders
Ribbon : Bobbin Ribbon from Joann's

Impression Obsession - Christmas in July Challenge

I designed this one for one of Impression Obsession's Challenges. You can check out the Impression Obsession Challenges HERE. I don't think Shirley has set up a particular day of the week she post the challenges. So if you want to be up to date on all the lates IO news and challeges, subscribe to the blog. That's what I do.
You can also view their catalogs online
HERE. Alesa Baker is fabulous!! I love Leigh Hannon as well! I need to get my local stamp store to place an order for me!!

So I didn't think I had a christmas stamp to play along, and of course AFTER I finished this card (this one is not technically a christmas stamp) I found one, hehe. Well this one worked out ok. And I had fun. Well I had fun coloring that is. I had this crazy idea that it would be fun to stamp the image multiple times, cut up the pieces and pop them up ... NOT !! But I do like the way it looks!! NO PAIN, NO GAIN!
Now if I can just find sometime to play with some of my other stamps. My GinaK stamps are collecting dust. I gotta get busy!

Artist Trading Cards / Impression Obsession

The Impression Obsession DT has hosted a challenge to create a project using NO Patterned Paper. That's usually a tough on for me. Here is an ATC I designed last summer that qualifies. Yes I hand cut all of those little pieces - cuticle sissors was the only way to go! I used pumus for the sand and tissue paper/modge podge for the water.

My challenge to you is to not only leave off the patterned paper, but to add some texture in some way as well!
I will be pulling out more of my Impression Obsession stamps this weekend to try and create a new project for this challenge as well!
